Quotes from the article which I found informative and reinforce what I have tried to stress throughout my website are:

"Antioxidants work synergistically and may provide a greater benefit together than they do individually."

"Unlike many other nutrients, you can't store antioxidants, so you have to keep replenishing the supply.

"The important thing is getting antioxidants throughout the day and keeping levels high because they go down very quickly," says Joe Vinson, Ph.D., a professor of chemistry at the University of Scranton."

If you go to Recent Mangosteen Research you will find that VEMMA and VERVE both have sustained peak antioxidant effect for over 6 hours. They were still at peak at that time, but the testing ended at 6 hours.

There are plans to extend the testing to up to 16 hours to see how long the effect is actually sustained beyond the initial time period.

Triglycerides Count in Managing Heart Disease Risk

14-August 2008 - Diabetic News

"Cholesterol, both good and bad, gets plenty of attention when the subject is reducing the risk of heart disease. Yet triglycerides, a form of fat that circulates in the blood, merit similar attention, according to the August issue of Mayo Clinic Health Letter."

  • "high triglyceride levels increase the risk of pancreatitis, a painful, life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas."
  • "elevated triglycerides are caused by three related factors: consuming too many calories, inadequate exercise, and being overweight or obese."
  • Other factors: "type 2 diabetes, hypothyroidism, kidney or liver disease; medications including thiamine diuretics, beta-blockers or hormone therapies; and alcohol."
  • "Weight loss from diet changes and exercise are the first steps" for lowering triglycerides.
  • "Supplemental niacin or high-dose fish oil are often effective."
